Artisan Cottage II

Location: Stoneybatter, Dublin

Status: Completed 2008

This mid terrace two-storey red-brick house, built in 1905, was refurbished in its entirety and the rear wall punctured with large glazed openings. The ground floor which was originally comprised of two living rooms and a corridor, was opened up into a single open plan living space linking to the courtyard at the rear.

The house was dri-lined and insulated internally to current standards and retains the brick facades, with the heating and electrical systems fully replaced inside. A custom built, cantilevered ‘floating’ hardwood stairs completes the ground floor and gives access to the bedrooms upstairs.
